You do not need an official transcript. We only require a photo or screenshot of an unofficial transcript record or most recent report card. Middle schoolers are only required to submit report cards.
The ARISE application deadline has been extended to March 6th for applications and March 10th for recommendations. Students should not wait for their recommender to submit their application.
Your recommender does not need to be a STEM teacher. Your recommender just needs to be an educational professional who has taught you in the recent past. We only require and will only review one recommendation per student.
Recommenders do not have to submit a written letter. The recommendation only requires a numerical response in the ranking form.
If your school does not give grades, submit your written report(s) and provide numerical equivalents to your written reports. For example: 'Student performs exceptionally well/demonstrates high proficiency/exceeds learning targets' = A/A+ or 100; 'Student is performing on par/meeting standards/performs satisfactorily' = B-/B+ or 80-90.
There are several common glitches: 1) Area of Interest selections not saving in ARISE applications: Email your preferences to us directly, 2) Checklist items showing as missing even though completed: Refresh your browser, try a different browser, or resubmit answers, 3) Buffering after hitting submit: Try refreshing your browser, using a different browser, or submitting during off-peak hours, 4) If experiencing difficulties, copy your application answers into a Google Doc and share to K12.STEM@NYU.Edu with your full name.
There are several possibilities: 1) Check your spam folder, 2) There might be a typo in the email address, 3) Ensure you're checking the email used for the application, 4) School-based emails sometimes reject messages from large email distribution platforms, 5) Contact university.programs@nyu.edu if you still don't receive it.

Yes. If there are additional vacant bed spaces in your suite, we may assign other students or interns outside of your group to those spaces.
If you wish to change your reservation dates and you are responsible for your own housing charges, you may do so on our Reservation Changes page using the Date Change Request Form. If your group is responsible for your housing charges, please reach out to your group coordinator with any date-change requests.
Room types are determined by your program. If you have been provided with multiple group codes, you can self-select into your desired room type. Note that summer housing rates vary by room type. If you received only one code, you will be unable to change your room type.
You can register for an NYU ID number and apply for Summer Housing. Please follow the step-by-step instructions on our How-to-Apply page to complete the housing application correctly, including inputting your Group Name and Authorization Code. This will ensure that you correctly fill out the application and affiliate yourself with your group. Once you have completed all steps, your housing is secured.
Assignment timing varies. We typically do not make assignments until the entire group has applied. Therefore, it can be anywhere from late March through 3 weeks prior to the start of your program, depending on when your group members apply. Everyone in your group will be assigned to the same building. Group coordinators can provide the name and address of your residence hall.
On the application, you may request to live with another NYU Summer Housing applicant, if you are an adult. We cannot guarantee such requests but will do our best to accommodate them.
All residents must abide by the NYU Housing policies and the terms of the housing license.
Residents with approved medical needs are placed in Reasonable Housing Accommodations. You and your healthcare provider must complete the Reasonable Housing Accommodation request packet for the NYU Moses Center for Student Accessibility. You may email mosescsd@nyu.edu to begin the process or request more information. Please note that if you are approved for a specific type of accommodation, you may be separated from the group in order to fulfill your required needs.

The workshops in June will be scheduled during after-school hours and hosted remotely. Sessions will be both synchronous and asynchronous, following a schedule that fits the consensus of the admitted cohort. This allows students to work asynchronously on days they have other commitments. You can anticipate an average of 3 workshop sessions a week, with at least 1 week having 4 sessions.
You must meet the program attendance requirements to complete the program and get the most benefit. If circumstances prevent you from attending (illness, family emergencies, COVID quarantine), the program will evaluate whether you can make up absences to complete the program. If it's not possible to make up absences, you will not be allowed to continue.
For ARISE and other programs: 1) Begin your onboarding process by accepting your placement, 2) Attend the orientation session, 3) Complete program forms after enrollment, 4) Set up your NYU email and respond to test communications, 5) Complete any preparation surveys before orientation.
